There are times you just have to accept that some season's aren't going to go as planned. Suffering from knee injuries half way through the season - Czech Freeskier Barbora Novakova had to separate the good from the bad and do what she could to start preparing for her goals next year. "The best part of this year's winter was definitely pre season at Hintertux and Stubai, because it was all just about skiing" she says, "and I missed 90% of spring skiing this year because of troubles with my knees!"
Luckily for Barbora the injuries that out her out of this season won't affect her future ones. "It's nothing way too serious, only 2-3 month rehab for my patellas and it all should be good" she explains, "and I'm off to ski in Australia at that time!"
Despite missing the slush Barbora managed to hit the parks, and get her confidence up on the kickers, scooping 1st at the Czech Freeski Championship again (she stole it last year too!) and placed 3rd at European cup in Vogel, 10th at EC in Seiser Alm and stepping up to her first start at the World Cup in Silvaplana where she suffered her knee injury.
"Overall it was fun season with lot of new experiences mainly when it comes to competing, but I was struggling with my health a lot so I'm happy that its over now and I can focus on my rehab and be back next year 100% and start with the Olympic Qualifier."
The break has allowed Barbora to set herself the goals that matter the most, and after watching her clips from the season, we trust that she'll slay her way into the Olympics. "It's better to focus on World Cups from now on and skip the European Cups - I'd like to use the time and money I save on Olympic Qualifiers and way more filming." Just shows that keeping your head up can go a long way!
Keep your eyes peeled for this gal next season, we have faith she gonna come back a steal some noteworthy spots again next year. Check out the clips!
